奄美大島から記載され、常緑のブナ科やクスノキ科の枯れ葉に生息する。小笠原諸島を除く関東以南の常緑広葉樹林に広く分布する。国外では台湾、中国及びベトナムに分布する。オスの第6腹節背板にある1対の角状突起はよく発達し内側に湾曲する。食菌性。

This species was described from Amami Is. and inhabits the dead leaves of the evergreen　trees, especially Fagaceae and Lauraceae. It is widely distributed in evergreen broad-leaved forests south of the Kanto region, excluding the Ogasawara Islands. It is also distributed in Taiwan, China and Vietnam. A pair of tubercles on the abdominal tergite VI of the male are well developed and curved inwards. Fungus-feeder.
